Welcome to my website!
Dear Neighbor,
Working Toward A Sustainable Community For All Ages
Thanks to all who came out and voted! Your support of the process is greatly appreciated. As the Sun Gazette editorial said, Vienna residents tend to be a contented bunch. I am humbled by your expressions of support for my service to our community.
But there are more decisions that need your input. There will be a public hearing at our May 24 meeting to consider making changes to our election process. The state and county are passing along more election costs to Vienna, and average voter turnout has been low. We will consider eliminating the more-costly odd year election or moving our election to November. Let us know your opinion.
There will also be public hearings on the proposed 2010-2011 Vienna budget and real estate tax rate on May 10 and June 7. The Mayor and Council will consider your testimony when adopting the final budget on June 21.
Another issue coming up this year is planning for future re-development along Maple Avenue. What should it look like? What type of businesses should there be? Watch the Town Newsletter for information about citizen meetings about this very important topic.
What is the future of our water and sewer system? Within the next few months, a consultant will be hired to evaluate our system, and provide information about the available options. We need to make the right decision that combines the best service at the lowest possible price for Vienna residents.
And your Town government will soon be able to reach out to you via email and text messages, so watch for your opportunity to sign up for this service. Of course, you can always keep in touch by checking the website and by phone.
Speaking of keeping in touch, I hope you will always feel free to contact me concerning any Town issue of importance to you. You may email me at ekelleher@viennava.gov or call me at 703-242-7651.
Sincerely yours,
